The Muslim University of Morogoro (MUM) successfully conducted a two-day Training Workshop on Islamization and Integration of Knowledge (IOK) from 6–7 August 2026 at the Imam Shafi Hall, MUM.

The workshop brought together members of the University community for intensive presentations, discussions, and reflections on the principles and application of Islamization and Integration of Knowledge within higher education.

The workshop, held under the Internationalization office, was officially opened by MUM DVC - Academics, Prof. Hamza Njozi and facilitated by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rashad Bakashmar of IIIT Malaysia.

In his opening speech, Prof. Njozi urged staff to translate the workshop outcomes into real curriculum and policy changes to produce graduates who are both academically competent and value-driven.

Prof. Bakashmar trained staff on integrating revealed and acquired knowledge across disciplines and developing action plans for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The workshop provided an important platform for strengthening awareness of the relationship between Islamic values and contemporary academic knowledge. It also encouraged participants to consider how the principles of Islamization and Integration of Knowledge can be reflected in academic programmes, teaching practices, research, and the broader intellectual mission of MUM.

The University expects the knowledge and insights gained during the training to contribute to strengthening its academic identity and advancing its commitment to producing graduates equipped with both professional competence and sound ethical and Islamic values

The successful completion of the two-day workshop demonstrates MUM's continued commitment to academic excellence, values-based education, and the integration of knowledge in accordance with the University's mission and vision.
